Nice message, Eddie, I appreciate ones like that.
So, I was reading through the review section of the site, and I saw that your printer is the UMAX astra 600P. I want to upgrade a machine, and that's the only issue, according to the XP compatibility dohicky that comes on the disk. Is there drivers available for this scanner for XP? And if there is, will my father still be able to use that UMAX copier program? Thanks, Sp0r
Of course, I mean scanner, not printer. Damn, I'm tired.
Nope, sorry dude. Umax decided that instead of waste time and money on making new XP drivers that they should just make new scanners instead and make the consumers pay for to fix their problems! What a great idea, right guys? uh...... guys?....... I'll uh... I'll be leaving now.
However, there are drivers for the 610P Astra that work with the 600P, BUT you won't be able to use any of the Vistascan or Umax software that came with the scanner. =(
Have anybody been able to get the Mustek 1200 III EP scanner to work in XP? I tried all the drivers for this scanner and the mustek's site says it will not write XP drivers. Tried win2k drivers but it will still not install. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Here is a post from another site that may help you: ------------------------ I emailed Mustek today regarding XP drivers here is the reply i got not much help but here ya go Our software department in taiwan is responsible for the driver programming. We canīt tell you right now when a windows XP driver will be available. Maybe you try this solution (without warranty) 1. start regedit 2. about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\current version change the valve name "product name" from Microsoft Windows XP into Microsoft Windows 2000 3. install the Mustek driver for Windows 2000 4. undo the changes in the registry. ----------------------- there was a following message of a user that tried this on his 1200 UB+, so maybe this will work with yours. Try it, if no luck, try www.wxperience.com and use their forums.

oh yeah, mr gates? well...... well........ YOUR MOM!! OH I KNOW THAT ONE HURT!
Thanks you for the information on XP, I appreciate your time. I could not help noticing the political discussion and I offer suggestion. To see one important difference between Bush and Gore (each of whom has many strengths and is welcome at my house) pay close attention to the current Enron scandal and what each says or does about it. Well, Gore can do nothing now, but let us see what he says. Millions (if not billions?) have been stolen (by stolen I mean that executives broke rules). Let us see if the Attorney General (whom I like) tackles perhaps the biggest financial scandal in American history. Will we focus media attention on Jihad Johnny? Will we be consumed by Richard the shoe-bomber? Will we lose sight of the thousands of hardworking Americans who lost their pensions? Or, will we find some way to blame them for being robbed? I think not. I have faith that our leaders will brings these crooks to justice. Capitalism is something we hold dearly to our hearts (socialism is disgusting, -as a previous writer implies). But remember, we must play by the rules. Rules, regulations, and laws are necessary to ensure some semblance of fairness. Imagine depositing your money in the bank, --only to find out the banker has left town? Rules are necessary. Only official law enforcement persons (police, fbi, etc.) can be enforce these the rule of law. Some say this it is "big government" when we make a rule for all to follow; but remember, we need rules. Further, rules must be enforced if they are to have any meaning. So, my point is not to say who is better, Bush or Gore; but rather, you make up your own mind. Which one (perhaps both) is more likely to hold white-collar rule breakers accountable? Which is more likely to defend the white-collar criminal?
Well uhhh.. I sometimes eat monkeys...
I am the webmaster and you are not.. NAHH i just put "Webmaster" as my username STUPID!!! -(BOB) ~Internet Scum.. Warez King
you're cool, Bob. Really.
I hope I didn't get screwed... I just "won" an AM-Comps Athlon XP 1700+/256 DDR/40/50xCD through U-Bid. No OS of course but that's not my worry. Is this a piece of crap or at least decent? Thanks CE Logan
Its a nice machine, I bought the same one. Had terrible problems with the company, they're real jerks. I also couldnt make XP install :-(.I returned it and bought a Cyberpower system, custom built. Same price, better system. But if you can get XP to work, its a very nice machine.
I bought one of these worthless piece of craps as well, system was misrepresented, came in a tower type case that was no more than 10 gauge sheetmetal with pop rivots, CDRW that came installed was found laying on the motherboard as well when it arrived, system wouldn't load XP, locked up constantly on WIN98 and ME, reformatted the "Generic HD" several times with in a span of three days, had to underclock the system down to a 850 from a 1.4 GHz to even allow it to run for any link of time, Ended up take the Ahtlon, heat sink, fan, the "Generic HD" as it was so lovely labled and the less than adequet RAM (memory)and power supply that came with itand placed what I could salvage into a old Gateway tower I had laying around my PC Shop and bought a new power supply and other componets that were needed to make the system work including a new motherboard as well. I strongly advise if anyone's considering buying anything from AM-Comps, DON"T! I've bought over 60 PC units from Ubid over the past 18 months and up until now i've had great service and producks fro Ubids Warehouse and have been pleased but I wouldn't give you jack squat fdor anything from AM-Comps, I have reported them to the BBB along with the links to several other complaints posted at Complaints.com so they could get some insight to the fraudjulent methods of sellings practices AM-Comps is using. here's the address to AM-Comps along with their phone number which doesn't work anylonger and no new numbers listed to contact them. Beware buyers, this company and their sell tactics are to say the least common and unprofessional. Here's one of the ads they're us ing on Ubid as of this week 10/13/2002 Today's Best AM-Comps Athlon XP 2000 GeForce3 AM-Comps Athlon XP 2000 GeForce3 uBid now with the GeForce 3 XTASY TI5. Featured Auctions Site ... and their address which I doubt you'll find them out, Weasel's have to move around to aviod being confronted for unethical and unprofessional sells and sales tactics, Ihope this letter has prevented someone else from falling prey to A-Comps AM-COMPS 297 E. I have an AM-Comps Athlon XP 1700/256/40 running XP. Worked fine under W2K but now with XP, it just re-boots by itself for no reason. Sometimes while right in the middle of doing something, like writing this message.
